In a world that is rapidly changing, returning to more traditional ways of life can offer lots of comfort. We’ve seen this in many different cultural movements towards eco-friendly living and organic farming. The same certainly applies to the aesthetic and location of the house you choose. Specifically, returning to a little log cabin nestled in the forest after a long day holds the promise of serenity and rejuvenation. We at homify certainly can’t get enough of the revival of these quaint cottages!
That’s why today we will be exploring one such abode in Russia by the renowned Uljanochkan Design*Studio. It is equipped with all the expected comforts of country living and replete with cosy little details. We hope you’ll join us as we have a look around.
The exterior is simple and charming. From the looks of it there’s no doubt that this is a true, authentic log cabin. The honey-coloured logs emanate warmth amidst the more arid and snowy surroundings. Encountering this home each day after roughing it in the cold must offer a true sense of home and hospitality. Let’s head inside.
The kitchen is equally as quaint. The logs are exposed from the interior, which give it a strong country feel. This, combined with the plaid curtains, antique oven, and simple wooden kitchen fronts, creates a wonderfully cosy place to prepare food. The modular style also helps to effectively maximise the space in the kitchen, and creates more counter space.
Setting up your décor against a log cabin backdrop is not the only way to achieve country style. Here, we can see how stone and textiles can also play into the mix. Of course, the addition of a chandelier and the raw wooden beams, which line the ceiling, help in creating this look at well.
Much of the furniture in the home has an antique air to it. When we shift our orientations to face the opposite side of the living area, we can see this beautiful, hand carved dining furniture set. Naturally, the wooden material and pale blue upholstery look great with the rest of the colour scheme. In the background we can also see that there is also an antique china cabinet made with stunning craftsmanship.
The bedroom possesses many masculine qualities. For one, the log cabin feel is always something associated with rugged outdoorsmen. This, combined with the rich timber bedframe and simple blue striped linens makes it seem like it could belong to a lumberjack or seasoned hunter. Yet, at the same time the gentle sunlight radiating from outside gives it a soft, even ethereal touch.
While there’s no doubting that the predominating aesthetic of the home is quaint and country, the bathroom offers an interesting departure from this style. It certainly still fits within the rest of the design scheme, but the vibrant reddish-brown mosaics offer something new. The bathroom gives off a regal vibe as these glistening tiles mix with the warm wooden tones of the timber accents at play here.
