If this home doesn't WOW with it's exuberant and cutting-edge design – I'm not sure what will! Metropole Architects have put their design finesse to the task of composing this impressive luxury abode in the heart of the Zimbali forest, near the holiday town of Ballito,  Kwa Zulu-Natal, South Africa. From inside-out, at every turn, every moment, this home out-does itself. The cantilevered forms sprawl out over the site that is dotted with pools, water features, cabanas, and more. The incredible views of the surrounding forest are enjoyed both inside and out. Let's take a wander through these magical spaces – you'll wish you were there!

The front face

From the very first moment that one approaches the home, it's no secret that an impressive home is about to unfold. The grand double height entry cuts through the middle of the home, capped by a cantilevering flat roof. It forms a central access between the front of the home and the back garden and outdoor living area. One can even see the views of the forest framed at the end.

The entry

The front door is approached via a timber walkway that traverses the moat-like body of water that wraps the exterior. A pivot door marks the threshold between inside and out. The very moment it penetrates the interior, it penetrates the exterior as well, highlighting its dual quality as a point of entry and exit.

The interior

The interior is as luxurious as the exterior. The social heart of the home is an open-plan space, comprising the kitchen, dining, and living spaces. Changes in level, material, and ceiling height create a differentiation between the various spaces and functions; holding them apart and preserving their difference.

The kitchen

The kitchen is achingly minimal, with a sleek and glossy finish. Of course, there's not a handle in sight, the kitchen island waterfalls down the side, and the colour palette is strictly monochromatic.

The bedroom

The master bedroom, located on the upper level, is complete with its very own living area and a band of windows that disappear to reveal a tremendous view out over the forest – what a dream!

The back garden and pool

To the back of the home, the living space completely open to the exterior. Glass doors peel away to create a seamless transition between inside and out. The flooring is continuous, dropping off only when it hits that incredible pool!
