Here on homify we always aim to keep you in the style loop, such as sharing predicted trends. And it just so happens that our crew of professionals (which include expert Interior Designers /Decorators) have picked up some hints on bedroom designs that are already becoming quite popular.

So, to keep you inspired (and in vogue), let’s look at 8 bedroom designs that are sure to be trendy in 2021.

1. A fancy headboard

Headboards really got a lot of style attention this year, and it doesn’t seem that 2021 is going to be an exception as more and more homeowners realise that this is a very inexpensive way of transforming a bedroom.

Don’t be scared to make your headboard the focal point of the space by opting for a striking colour, elegant fabrics, etc.

2. A statement bed

Your bed deserves to be the main piece of furniture in your room, so don’t let anything else compete for attention. Vibrant colours, eye-catching motifs, and interesting shapes can all highlight your sleeping spot that much better (depending on your room’s design style), but just ensure your bed-and-headboard combo doesn’t get too busy.

3. A bohemian-chic colour palette

No surprise that the tranquil style of the bohemian look and –colour palette gains traction in so many bedrooms, but how does one achieve that laid-back style back home?

With the warmer side of the colour wheel (think alluring hues like paprika red, squash orange, caramel brown, etc.), fresh (potted) plants and flowers, and a generous dose of natural materials like wood/timber, bamboo, rattan, or wicker.

4. Eclectic glamour

Although clutter will never by stylish, more spaces are moving away from the minimalist look and embracing (just enough) accessories for extra detail and character. The trick is not let every single piece match perfectly, instead opting for a mixing-and-matching/eclectic look that adds to the elegance.

Think in the realm of shiny finishes, velvet fabrics, polished parquet flooring…

5. Beautiful blues for décor

Whether you go with navy, baby blue, or one of the thousands of blue hues in-between, rest assured that blue bedroom accessories are in for 2021. And although white remains the favourite accent to blend with your blues, try chalky greys for a slightly warmer look.

6. Matching lights

There is certainly a growing trend for matching bedside lights, whether it’s table lamps, wall sconces, or long pendants dangling from above. Obviously this is not only about adequate illumination, but also to ensure a look of decorative consistency for your main sleeping space.

homify hint: Bedroom got low ceilings? Pick lampshades that allow light to reflect upward and gift your room with some visual dazzle/height.

7. Hints of nature

Many of us couldn’t access nature as often as we’d have liked to during lockdown. That human need for the environment seems stronger than ever, and it has certainly shown in the newest design ideas and style trends that incorporate touches of nature.

From beautiful window views and botanical prints to floral-patterned bedding and potted plants, there exists numerous ways to bring a bit of the outdoors inside.

8. Bedroom colour trends for 2021

Word on the style street is that, for 2021, dark charcoals and broody greys will make room for warmer alternatives like reddish browns, terracotta, etc. This trend actually flows from the need for more natural touches in our homes, as the other trendy bedroom colours for 2021 also come from nature.

Luxurious reds (think cherry-, currant-, and ruby red) are loved for their ability to not only visually warm up a room, but also because they go smashingly well with all the neutrals. And in terms of comfort, blue- and green bedrooms are having a moment (and will continue to do so next year) due to the positive and calming effect these natural colours have on the mind and body – exactly what one requires after this year!
